I ADORE A BEACH ENGAGEMENT SHOOT, ESPECIALLY AT SUNSET
When Mai and Sam said they wanted a sunset shoot at Durdle Door, I was beyond excited. One of my favourite places on earth, with the loveliest couple. We started the shoot by walking down to Man of War and heading along the beach side there as it was quieter than the infamous side of Durdle Door. It’s now my absolute favourite side, because look at these sunset photos. The way the sun was falling behind the cliff tops, we kept walking and it was just stunning. We then headed over along the top and down to the water right in front of Durdle Door

3 top Tips For a Sunset Engagement Shoot
1. Timing is Everything
- Schedule the shoot to begin about an hour before sunset to capture the “golden hour,” when the light is soft, warm, and flattering. This gives you time to get a variety of shots as the sun gets lower, creating a romantic and dreamy atmosphere.
2. Choose the Right Location
- Opt for a location with an unobstructed view of the horizon to fully capture the sunset. Whether it’s a beach, an open field, or a rooftop, make sure the setting complements your vibe. Consider places that have both foreground and background elements, like trees or buildings, to add depth to your photos.
3. Coordinate Outfits
- Wear colours that compliment the warm tones of the sunset, such as soft pastels, earthy neutrals, or warm tones like coral or rust. Avoid bold patterns or colors that might clash with the natural beauty of the sunset. Flowing fabrics can also add a romantic, ethereal touch when caught in the breeze.
